How long does onboarding take?

The full onboarding flow typically takes 20–30 minutes. You can save your progress and return at any time — your data is preserved automatically.

What information do I need?

You will need approximate balances for your retirement accounts, taxable accounts, debts, and monthly expenses. If you have a pension or Social Security estimate, have those handy. Exact numbers are not required — reasonable estimates work well.

Can I skip sections?

Yes. If a section does not apply to you (for example, debts or college funding), you can skip it. The analysis engine adjusts automatically when sections are skipped.

How is my data protected?

All financial data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM at the application level. We never store Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, or credit card numbers. Email addresses are stored as one-way hashes.

What if I don't know exact amounts?

Reasonable estimates are perfectly fine. The analysis engine runs 10,000 Monte Carlo scenarios, so approximate inputs still produce meaningful projections. You can always return later to refine your numbers.

Can I go back to a previous step?

Yes. Click any completed step in the progress indicator to navigate back and edit your previous answers. Your later entries are preserved.

What is a PIA (Primary Insurance Amount)?

Your PIA is your estimated monthly Social Security benefit at full retirement age. You can find it on your annual Social Security statement at ssa.gov/myaccount.

What does the success rate mean?

The success rate shows the percentage of 10,000 simulated scenarios where your portfolio balance remains positive through your target end age. A rate above 80% is generally considered strong, but context matters — consult a professional for personalized guidance.

How does Monte Carlo simulation work?

The engine runs 10,000 year-by-year projections using randomized stock returns, bond returns, and inflation drawn from historical distributions. Each scenario follows your specific income, spending, and asset profile. The aggregate results show how resilient your portfolio is across a wide range of market conditions.

What are the percentile bands?

The 5th, 25th, 50th (median), 75th, and 95th percentiles show the distribution of outcomes across all 10,000 scenarios. The median (50th) is the "typical" outcome. The 5th percentile represents a challenging but plausible scenario.

Why can't I see specific fund names?

This platform provides financial education, not personalized investment advice. Regulations require that we describe asset categories (e.g., "U.S. total stock market index fund") rather than naming specific funds or tickers. Your brokerage can help you identify appropriate funds in each category.

How is asset allocation calculated?

The base formula uses an age-based approach (110 minus your age for stock allocation percentage). If you have a pension, its present value is treated as a fixed-income asset, which may allow for a higher stock allocation. Sub-allocations split across domestic/international and government/corporate bonds.

What is the spending sensitivity table?

This table shows your success rate at different spending levels — current spending, +25%, +50%, +75%, and +100%. It helps you understand how much spending flexibility you have while maintaining plan sustainability.

Can I re-run the analysis?

Yes. Return to the onboarding flow to update any inputs, then re-run the analysis. The engine detects changed inputs automatically and produces updated projections.

The full report includes: Executive Summary, Retirement Readiness, Social Security Strategy, Insurance Analysis, Tax Strategy, Investment Allocation, College Funding (if applicable), Estate Planning Checklist, Budget & Cash Flow, and Methodology Notes.

Can I download a PDF?

Yes. Use the download button at the top of the report to generate a professionally formatted PDF. The PDF includes all charts, tables, and narrative content for easy sharing or printing.

What is the Surviving Spouse section?

This section outlines the financial steps and considerations if one spouse passes first. It covers benefit transitions, account access, and categories of professionals who can help during that time.

How current are the tax brackets?

Tax brackets and limits are updated annually. The engine version and parameter dates are shown in the Methodology Notes section. If your analysis was run before the latest update, you can re-run it to use the current year's parameters.

What is a Roth conversion window?

A Roth conversion window is a period — typically between retirement and the start of Social Security or RMDs — when your taxable income is low. Converting traditional IRA funds to Roth during these years can save significant taxes over your lifetime.

How do I change my email?

Go to Account Settings and select "Update Email." A verification link will be sent to your new email address. Your existing analysis data is preserved during the change.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. In Account Settings, select "Delete Account." All your financial data, analysis results, and encrypted records will be permanently and irreversibly removed within 30 days.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

If you cancel a subscription, your existing analysis and report remain accessible in read-only mode. You can re-subscribe at any time to run new analyses. Your data is retained unless you explicitly request deletion.

How do I update my financial inputs?

From Settings, select "Edit Financial Profile" to return to the onboarding flow with your current data pre-filled. Update any fields and re-run the analysis to see updated projections.

Data privacy and encryption

I didn't receive a magic link

Check your spam/junk folder. Magic links expire after 15 minutes. If you still don't see it, request a new one. Ensure the email address matches the one you registered with.

Can I use SSO (single sign-on)?

SSO is available for B2B/enterprise tenants. If your employer provides access, use the SSO button on the login page. For direct-to-consumer accounts, magic link email login is the primary authentication method.

Is my login secure?

Yes. We use passwordless magic-link authentication, which eliminates the risk of password breaches. Each link is single-use and expires after 15 minutes. Enterprise tenants can use SAML/OIDC SSO for additional security.

If you cannot remember which email you registered with, contact support. We can verify account ownership through alternative means while protecting your data privacy.

How do I customize branding?

In Tenant Settings, upload your logo and set primary/secondary colors and font family. Changes are applied immediately across all user-facing pages for your tenant.

Can I limit which modules are shown?

Yes. Use Feature Flags in Tenant Settings to enable or disable specific analysis modules. For example, an employer may only want to expose the retirement and 401(k) allocation modules.

How do I set up a custom domain?

In Tenant Settings, add your custom domain and configure a CNAME record pointing to the platform. SSL certificates are provisioned automatically. Domain resolution typically takes a few minutes after DNS propagation.

Can I see individual user data?

No. Admin dashboards show only aggregate, anonymized engagement metrics (completion rates, module usage, average time to complete). Individual user financial data is never accessible to tenant administrators.

How do I provision users in bulk?

Use the Bulk Provisioning API endpoint or upload a CSV file through the Admin Dashboard. Users will receive magic-link invitations. SSO-enabled tenants can use SAML/OIDC for automatic provisioning.

Click the help button (?) on any screen to see context-specific tips. You can also press the "?" key on your keyboard to toggle help. Use the search box at the top to find specific topics.

What do the amber-highlighted entries mean?

Entries highlighted in amber are regulatory disclaimers or important data privacy notices. They contain critical information about the educational nature of the analysis and how your data is protected.

How is the analysis engine different from AI?

The deterministic engine performs all financial calculations using rules-based, auditable, testable code — no AI inference. The AI layer only handles conversational data collection and plain-language explanations of engine outputs. This separation ensures calculation accuracy and regulatory compliance.
